Nutrient deficiency and how our jute powder helps

Nutrient deficiency can occur with any diet, whether in herbivores ,carnivores, or omnivores.

A full-fledged diet is possible (in principle) with our food offer – but the reality is different! A nutrient deficiency can arise quantitatively (too little of certain nutrients) or qualitatively (unfavorable composition of the nutrients supplied).

 

There are many reasons for this:

  • One-sided diet, e.g. fast food

  • Changed nutrient requirements, e.g. athletes

  • Disease, e.g. intestinal disease

  • Stimulant, e.g. influence of nutrient absorption by nicotine

  • Mental problems, e.g. stress

 

A few more concrete examples:

  • Gastrointestinal diseases can prevent nutrient absorption in the intestine

  • With a gluten-free diet (coeliac disease) many cereals must be dispensed with and thus also many nutrients

  • Alcohol damages the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract and prevent vitamin absorption

  • Coffee wakes up, but too much (from 3 cups) can disrupt metabolism

  • Smoking leads to oxidative stress (free radicals), which increases the need for antioxidants

 

A healthy, varied diet (whether as a vegan or omnivore) is essential to cover all nutrients. Nutrients that cannot be absorbed by food must be supplemented by dietary supplements (e.g. vitamin B12 in a vegan diet).
